Client Proofing – 2010

To provide all my clients with enhanced safety features, dependability and customization, I utilize SmugMug.com for a majority of my image hosting.

The intent of creating this form of rating system is to prevent accidental viewing of potentially objectionable photography.

G – Nothing that would offend parents for viewing by children.

PG – Parents urged to give “parental guidance”. May contain some material parents might not like for their children.

PG 13 – Some material may be inappropriate for pre-teenagers.

R – Patently adult. Children are not admitted. Contains adult material and nudity.

A Military Model

While exploring Hilton head and the surrounding area a few months ago I was able to schedule some time with a few models to continue on my exploration of portraiture. Melissa was one such individual that ultimately fell into my lap in the weeks leading up to my vacation.

She was truly a terrific model and took direction quite nicely. Her creative ideas were delightful and I have to say I loved her classic retro styling with her outfits that day. While her schedule is rough due to her involvement in the military I’d highly suggest trying to schedule some time with her should you ever be in the area!

Model Portfolio Packages

Dim Horizon Studio offers a large assortment of specialized packages designed to assist new models in constructing those creative portfolio shots that play a major role in being signed with modeling agencies around the world.

All bookings require a non-refundable deposit of half the negotiated rate to reserve your date with the remaining balance of the package due at the beginning of the session. For last minute cancellations or rescheduling a minimum of 24 hours notice is required. All packages below provide the client with a protected gallery of proofs available online for two weeks.

Basic Model Package: $150

Booking the Basic Model Package entitles the client to up to 2 hour of time at a location of their choice. (Studio Environment or On-Location Services available)

The client may select up to 10 of their favorite shots from the proof gallery for glamour retouching. Due to the time required to process these shots additional images may be selected for retouching at a price of $25 each.

Once the post processing has been completed, the client will receive the following:

(1) – 8×10 print of their choice
(9) – 4×6 prints of their choice
CD of Images
Photographers Release

This package includes travel of up to 40 miles round trip from zip code 30188. Any distance beyond this will require a nominal fee for travel expenses.

Deluxe Model Package: $275

Booking the Deluxe Model Package entitles the client to up to 4 hour of time split in any manner between two location(s) of their choice. (Studio Environment or On-Location Services available)

The client may select up to 10 of their favorite shots from the proof gallery for glamour retouching. Due to the time required to process these shots additional images may be selected for retouching at a price of $25 each.

The client may also select up to 5 of their favorite shots to be utilized in the construction of a Comp Card.

Once the post processing has been completed, the client will receive the following:

(2) – 8×10 prints of their choice
(9) – 4×6 prints of their choice

A Masked Adventure

I was approached by a model that was curious if I’d done any shoots themed around masks. My first thought to the gas mask and re-breather masks I’ve shot with a few of my alternative models and I must say I was quite surprised when the model produced examples of her lovely masks.

These masks are more of a classic Venetian, or grand masquerade style but I have to say I really enjoyed working with them.

Jennifer was trying to capture the mystery and overall look of the masks while also incorporating some of my dark themes. I’ll admit, I was really able to flush out my dark themes in one of the shots and while I haven’t been able to complete post processing our shoot at the time of writing this post, I’m still quite pleased with whats been posted thus far. The mood, the overall impression, all touches on things I admire and I couldn’t have asked for more from a shoot.

If you’re looking for a model in the Atlanta area, I’d highly recommend Jennifer. She was professional and quite the inspiration throughout our day spend at the old ruins of Sope Creek.

Capturing something unique at Oakland Cemetery

This spring has been truly a good year to catch models on their wild and crazy adventures during spring break. I was able to nab unique lady a number of weeks ago.

We both wanted to go for something dark and gritty while also keeping to some of my fantasy elements. I really loved her idea of using the teddy bear as an evil element in our shoot. (I only wish I was more of a photo shop wizard to really take the concept to a higher level.) I’m still quite proud how all the shots turned out though. Perhaps I’ll start trying to pick apart some of the more popular tutorials on the net and see if I can incorporate those looks into my shoots.

In retrospect, the shoot really did go over quite well. Thuy was exceptionally talented at communicating her feelings through both body movement as well as her expression. In all my shoots I’ve done recently she really did go above and beyond the call throughout our shoot. I always try to warn models that I work with that I’m a fast shooter, unlike most she really did take advantage of that and at times, I’ll admit, I had a hard time keeping up with her.

If you get a chance, I’d highly recommend looking her up should you need a model of her caliber.

Gothic fashion at…

Wait for it… wait for it… wait for it… Yes, yet another one of my recent shoots was shot at Sope Creek.

I’ve gotta say, it was truly a delight to work with Athena and her lovely sister. It was a beautiful and cool morning to be working at Sope Creek. My only big complain of the day was that we had a DS casualty during the course of the morning and lighting was truly harsh. The light was easily handled by sticking to the shadows for most of the shoot, though the DS was another story. Last I heard it was still in intensive care… and for a gamer that’s a frighting thought indeed.

As for Athena and her sister, I really do hope I can work with this dynamic duo again soon!

The lovely Dalida at Sope Creek

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been trying to schedule more shoots to help expand upon my Wedding & Engagement Photography. I was very lucky to happen upon Dalida on Model Mayhem looking to add some shots to her portfolio with a similar look in mind. After a short discussion online, we were off to spend an afternoon at Sope Creek.

I have to say, I’m quite pleased with the overall look and feel of this set with her. Sope Creek is truly a versatile location and I’m excited about potentially scheduling some clients for their engagement set there in the next couple of months. As for my shoot with Dalida, I’ll let the results speak for themselves.

Exploring old ruins with a gothic beauty

As I somewhat alluded to in my post over my steampunk shoot, I’ve always been interested with those old aesthetics. As of this moment, I also have an ongoing casting for models with Gothic or Victorian attire that they’d like shot in one of my unique locations. I was blessed a few months ago with a delightful shoot with the beauty below. Morgan was truly a lovely model to work with and I must say we’ve got some truly amazing wardrobe to work with in the future.
