As with my other post about this lovely Winter in Georgia it’s always a good idea to take advantage of such events to get a unique perspective on things you might see every day.

Just as this past storm started to develop, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to visit some of the historic locations nearby. The mill and wheel has been a popular fixture in Woodstock. While the roads were just beginning to develop a nice cover of slush and ice, the trip wasn’t that difficult and I have to say I’m quite pleased with the results from my little adventure.

I also took the opportunity to go visit a local park (Olde Rope Mill Park to be specific) that doesn’t get much traffic based upon my observations. Much to my own surprise, as I drove up I noticed that I wasn’t the only one at the park that afternoon. As I hiked about, I got happened upon Andy of Andy Middleton Photography. I have to say, he’s quite a talent and I’d highly suggest checking out some of his work.

If there is anything I’ve learned over the course of the past year or two it’s that you never let a special setting, location or event go to waste when you’re a passionate photographer. Relatively recently, Woodstock Georgia was blessed with about 4 to 5 inches of snow and this was an excellent opportunity to treat the “boys” to something they are really not used to.

Ozzy, my bull mastiff, hasn’t ever been exposed to that much snow and it took him a good day to realize that it’s something that he can eat. However, when tossing him snow balls… it was easily resolved although I think he also got to experience the pain of a brain freeze at least once or twice.

Caesar, on the other hand, my pug/box mix (don’t ask… ), enjoyed the winter weather as it reminded him of home and his large family back in Indiana. To be honest, he spent most of the winter storm looking regal/commanding in the yard. Occasionally he would get curious and re-explore his territory but ultimately decide it was better to be inside bundled up in a warm bed.
