Wedding: Shawn & Michelle

There is nothing quite like seeing old friends start new beginnings.

Even more so, when you get to be a part of it; for me being the photographer of two wonderful people who happen to also be friends starting their lives together.

I had the pleasure of working with both Shawn & Michelle on their engagement shoot a few months ago and I was honestly quite thrilled to be asked to also do their wedding as well. The wedding itself held a great deal of symbolic meaning to this fantastic couple. The date of the wedding was specifically chosen to fall on Valentines Day and this also happened to be during the time for celebrating the Chinese New Year.

While there was some concern surrounding the weather that week (you may see a few articles I posted about it previously at the links below) the day of was something out of a fairy tale. The temperature outside was cool and crisp, allowing for the snow to stick long enough for some amazing pictures.

Dragon*Con 2009: Part I

Let me begin by saying, Dragon*Con 2009 was one of the most active, hectic and generally stir crazy conventions I’ve ever had the dismay of participating in. As if the stress of running a booth wasn’t enough, I also had the pleasure of scheduling a wedding (away from Dragon*Con), 2 events (at Dragon*Con) and 5 specific client shoots during the course of this holiday weekend / special event.

I know… I’m crazy… but there really never is any rest for those with passion and drive.

I had initially planned on having all my antics at Dragon*Con in a single article and thought better of it as I started to write this. So, with that said, the second article is available and you can access it here.

The first big event for Dragon*Con 2009 was my new booth in collaboration with Steam Powered Pinky. I have to say, it was a fantastic design dreamed up by the both of us that ultimately lead to a tremendous increase in sales when compared to Dragon*Con 2008.

As with every big convention I attend, I always try to maximize my time by network and working with people I typically wouldn’t have access to. Meredith ended up being a lovely example of that. We found each other through Model Mayhem and the rest is really history.

Adding to the stress of the convention, I also had an old friend from my time at Kennesaw State University request for me to shoot her small wedding ceremony that weekend. Wedding Packages

Dim Horizon Studio offers a few specialized packages for Weddings. These packages are negotiable and are easily customized to meet the need of every client, especially those on a budget capturing their important day to its fullest.

All bookings require a non-refundable deposit of 25% of the negotiated rate to reserve your date with the remaining balance of the package due the day of the ceremony. For last minute cancellations or rescheduling a minimum of 24 hours notice is required. All packages below provide the client with a protected gallery of proofs available online for two weeks.

Basic Wedding Package: $1200

Weddings require a non-refundable 25% deposit a minimum of 3 months before the ceremony to reserve the date with the remaining negotiated fee to be paid the day of the ceremony. Until the deposit has been paid, the date will not be reserved.

This package entitles the clients to the following:

4 hours of photography service
Images hosting for 6 months
2 Photographers on site
DVD (including all processed, unprocessed images)
Limited Photographers Release

Every additional hour beyond four will be charged at a rate of $100 an hour. Should extensive travel be required for the ceremony, a hourly travel rate of $25.00 will be charged from the zip code 30188.

During the 3 month period leading up to the wedding, the photographer will be available to meet twice with the Bride & Groom to ensure the day is captured in the manner desired. This time may also be used in conjunction with a wedding planner.

All images taken will be hosted for a period of 6 months on SmugMug.com with the option to continue hosting for $30 for each additional 6 month period. This is by far the easiest method to share the photos of your day with friends and family.

The Bride & Groom may choose up to 30 of their favorite shots for digital post processing / enhancement. This includes adjustments to the images beyond converting images to black & white or sepia tone. Additional edited images are available for $10 each.

Once all post processing has been completed, The Bride & Groom will then receive a high resolution DVD with all photography from the special day including the 30 edited images as well as a photographers release allowing them to print their photos at any location of their choice.

Wedding & Engagement Proofing

To provide all my clients with enhanced safety features, dependability and customization, I utilize SmugMug.com for a majority of my image hosting.

The intent of creating this form of rating system is to prevent accidental viewing of potentially objectionable photography.

G – Nothing that would offend parents for viewing by children.

PG – Parents urged to give “parental guidance”. May contain some material parents might not like for their children.

PG 13 – Some material may be inappropriate for pre-teenagers.

R – Patently adult. Children are not admitted. Contains adult material and nudity.

The lovely Dalida at Sope Creek

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been trying to schedule more shoots to help expand upon my Wedding & Engagement Photography. I was very lucky to happen upon Dalida on Model Mayhem looking to add some shots to her portfolio with a similar look in mind. After a short discussion online, we were off to spend an afternoon at Sope Creek.

I have to say, I’m quite pleased with the overall look and feel of this set with her. Sope Creek is truly a versatile location and I’m excited about potentially scheduling some clients for their engagement set there in the next couple of months. As for my shoot with Dalida, I’ll let the results speak for themselves.
